"What They Say".....................................

Chubby Learns to fly has been a great success at our Infant School. The
children love the dynamic pictures and laugh out loud everytime they look at
them! The language is full of life too...we have enjoyed the dialogue
between Chubby and B. Major immensely. It holds a great message about life
and learning...just keep on trying!

We loved this book! There is something about it that appeals to the old and young alike. The pictures are captivating and extend children's thinking. The story not only teaches young learners what might happen when a 'Buddy' learns to fly but also builds suspense. Great book!

Peter Cozens brought to life the magical and moralistic tale of
'Chubby
Learns to Fly' at Stamford Library Storytime for Under Fives and their
Carers. Adults and children enjoyed the fabulous illustrations to a
captivating story. Any more 'Chubby' stories on the horizon?

Peter Cozens came into Brooke Hill School and read "Chubby Learns to
Fly" to several classes of children. It was enjoyed by all and the
book has become a favourite in the book corner!
It is a fun text to read together, with exciting pictures, and
independent readers can read it in one go.

I was recently given a copy of Chubby Learns to Fly - what a delight of a book!
On a personal note, I found the text engaging and very humorous - plenty of action and drama. When reading the book to the children in my Reception class, the text came to life. There are so many opportunities for expression with voice and gestures, discussion about character and organising of text - SO much to talk about! The children have asked for the story over and over - a real impression was made.
All the children loved the illustrations which are bright, bold and really add to the drama of the whole story. ( We all particularly enjoyed the descent into the sunflower!)

I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading to children whilst also appreciating a book for its quality.
